The Bao Alchemy Story

Hi, I’m Mindy Wheeler – a beauty nutritionist, skincare specialist, and makeup artist. After a decade in the beauty industry, I realised that many products, despite promises of flawless skin, were doing more harm than good. This led me on a journey of skin discovery, moving from harsh chemicals to natural ingredients that truly nourished and healed.Through my studies in skin nutrition, I learned how to treat skin issues from the inside out, achieving the natural glow I had always dreamed of. Empowered by this knowledge, I began experimenting in my home lab with the same healing foods that had transformed my skin. That’s when Bao Alchemy was born: a natural, handmade, small-batch, cruelty-free, and sustainable skincare brand that supports true skin health. The name Bao Alchemy comes from my love for Baobab oil, a wonder ingredient from the ‘Tree of Life.’ Packed with vitamins and essential fatty acids, Baobab oil nourishes, protects, and restores skin with its magic – which is why it’s the hero of Bao Alchemy.

Why Small Batch?
We make every Bao Alchemy product by hand in small batches to ensure freshness and quality. Our organic, toxin-free ingredients naturally have a shorter shelf life, so small batches help us maintain integrity without compromising the effectiveness of our products.

Ingredients
We carefully source ingredients from ethical, sustainable suppliers, prioritizing organic whenever possible. 80% of our ingredients are certified organic. The few non-organic ingredients we use are non-toxic.

Sustainability
We believe that small actions can have a big impact. That’s why our products are packaged in recyclable glass, and our eco-postbags and labels are compostable and recyclable. Our Bao Alchemy lab is powered by the sun, and rain provides us with water – because we believe in taking care of our planet, too.

Acknowledgement of Country
Bao Alchemy is handmade on Gubbi Gubbi Country with respect for the Gubbi Gubbi people, the Elders past, present and emerging. We honour and acknowledge the traditional Custodians and are grateful to call this sacred land home. We are continuously undergoing a process of cultural and spiritual learning and are indebted to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples for their wisdom and teachings of Mother Earth.
